Fluffy animals gambling ad was reckless, states guard dog

A betting advert which featured fluffy animals has been banned after being branded “careless” by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The video ad for Gala Spins – part of the FTSE 100-listed gaming giant GVC Holdings five toy animals.
The ASA ruled the advertisement “was likely to be of specific interest under-18s” and for that reason “the ad was irresponsible”.

The paid-for Facebook post in August included a video caption reading “it’s a rollercoaster of cuteness” and a video revealing “fluffy favourite” toy animals.
It triggered a problem to the marketing guard dog that the material of the advert was likely to appeal to children.
The ASA concurred and said: “Gambling ads must not be most likely to be of specific attract kids or young adults, particularly by reflecting or being related to youth culture.
“We thought about that the ad was most likely to be of particular appeal to under-18s and for that reason concluded that the advertisement was reckless and breached the [marketing] bonus code yohaig.”

Gala Spins stated it published the video featuring packed animals in error and that it was an obsolete video.
It said its intended target audience was females aged between 18 and 65 thinking about gambling.
Gala Spins was censured by the guard dog two years ago for linking betting and ability in an advert.
Among its TV ads included a male playing on his tablet with a voiceover suggesting: “Try it now and see if you’ve got the skill.”
The ASA ruled that the line “see if you’ve got the skill” was effectively an invite to gamble online in the context of the yohaig code advertisement, and therefore indicated that audiences could utilize ability to enhance their chances of winning.
Gala Spins becomes part of Gibraltar-based LC International which in turn is owned by GVC Holdings, which purchased Ladbrokes Coral in 2018.
In 2015, GVC processed ₤ 11.2bn-worth of sports wagers through its different brands, consisting of Bwin, Coral, Crystalbet, Eurobet, Ladbrokes, Neds International and Sportingbet.
