Kanu Nwankwo Defends Enyimba Reforms, Urges Support Amidst Criticism
Enyimba FC Chairman and Nigerian football legend, Nwankwo Kanu, has called for fair and supportive criticism as he continues efforts to revamp the club’s infrastructure and operations. Speaking at the 2025 NNL Super 8 tournament in Asaba, Kanu addressed the ongoing scrutiny of his administration, highlighting the significant challenges he inherited.
“I met an Enyimba that had no proper office, no players’ camp, no clubhouse, no dedicated training pitch, no feeder teams even the trophies won by the club were packed in someone’s office,” Kanu stated. “We have started taking concrete steps to correct these anomalies.”
Despite these efforts, Enyimba’s performance on the pitch has faced criticism, with the team struggling in the NPFL standings. However, Kanu emphasized that the club’s long-term goals require patience and understanding from fans and stakeholders. “Enyimba is a great club and should be the greatest in Nigeria, not just in terms of trophies, but in structure and professionalism,” he affirmed.
